Newstead Dorper, established in 2005 is located SW of Goondiwindi. Our focus is to source the best genetics in the world. An ongoing acquisition program from leading studs in South Africa, coupled with significant embryo transfer and artificial insemination programs has resulted in a flock that reflects this investment and has allowed us, from a standing start, to present a stud flock of outstanding quality in just two years. Pivotal to this was our investment in a 6th share of 'Sahara', son of 'Kalahari" and the aquisition of 24 elite ewes in South Africa which we have flushed for embryos by 'Sahara' and John Dell's 'Alarm'.  A further purchase in 2008 of another 10 confirmation 5 & type 5 ewes, guarantees the highest standard of embryos imported. Our mission "measure, monitor, utilize and enhance" is backed by world best practice in record keeping and objective measurement. The genetic wealth collated at Newstead allows stud principal John Mackay the opportunity to apply rigorous selection and present superior animals for South African selection. Mackay Pastoral have a horizontal integration strategy utilizing cross-bred dorper lambs through a progeny buy-back scheme. The lambs do fifty days on grain at the Newstead feedlot and are marketed under the MSA brand 'Boggabilla Lamb'.
