Handling of Exotic Sheep in Tasmania - Media Release
Rules around the handling of exotic sheep in Tasmania may change to benefit breeders, following an assurance from Primary Industries minister David Llewellyn that the regulations will be reviewed.
In 2004 a number of restrictions were put on exotic sheep breeders, following lobbying from Tasmanian wool growers who were concerned their clip could be contaminated from the fibres of the exotic sheep who shed their fleece.
Dorper breeder Jim Lyall from Upper Natone told Eliza Wood that while the number of dorpers in Tasmania has been gradually growing, a commercial dorper industry has been held back by the legislation.

TRAINING SCHOOL – QUEENSLAND, August 2008
Bellevue Grazing Company, Millmerran. Queensland, will be hosting an on-property Dorper/White Dorper Training School from 22 - 25 August. This will be conducted by International Judge, Pieter van Schalkwyk. Places are limited, so anyone interested should contact either David & Robbie Curtis.
Pieter will also be available to type/class for other breeders during his visit to Australia. He will be available from late August 2008. If anyone is interested please contact either David & Robbie Curtis so that a program can be arranged.
