The stud was founded by Lou and Bronte Mawson who in 1997 imported embryos from the Hennie Jacobs stud in South Africa. The embryos were from Hennie Jacobs stud ewes by 2 of Peet Cilliers stud rams - both of National significance. They were most impressed with the progeny which led to a further importation in 1998 of embryos from the Floors Brand stud. AXIS White Dorper stud was registered with the Dorper Sheep Breeders Society of Australia in 1998. Flock Number 36. We are continually astounded by the breed and it's attributes. The stud flock was purchased by Haysam and Lily Mohtadi in 2007. Natural mating programmes are continuous within our stud. As quality is our main objective, it is important to ensure that our stud is covered by the highest health status's available. Our stud is involved in the Ovine Johnes Disease Market Assurance Programme and are currently at the MN3 level and we have an Ovine Brucellosis Free Accreditation (stud has been in the program and still pursue it).
All our animals are individually identified at birth and extensive animal and production records are then maintained which includes full pedigree histories. All ewes are given a 6 in 1 vaccine in February of each year and all lambs go through a full vaccination programme.
